The next meeting on 9 December 1pm at the Glenfield Memorial Hall, Hall Road, Glenfield, will be a lunch and an outdoor painting session outside the hall.
The Auckland Watercolour Society Merit AwardsThe 2013 Auckland Watercolour Society award winners demonstrated the fantastic properties of the medium. Amanda's premier prize winning "tools of trade" painted in haste just before the acceptance deadline, shows what a master she is. She submitted two paintings, both in the same style but totally different from last year when she won a second prize. Masterful tones and colours. We have watched second prize winner, Claudia Slaney, grow in confidence and choice of subject over the past three years. She so rightly deserved this prize. Third place winner Jean Sullivan is a regular attender at our monthly meetings and we have watched her improvement with great interest.
The Society's congratulations to all award winners keep up the good work.
The Awards Exhibition at Lake House is Auckland’s largest exhibition soley devoted to watercolourists. The winners of this year’s awards were worthy recipients because their standard was very good. But we can do better. Comparing our web site with that of The New Zealand Watercolour Society shows that we can still do better. Next year, Tim Felton is bringing the crème de la crème of Australian artists as well as our own Jackie Pearson to conduct week long workshops. See his web site www.paintingholidays.co.nz for details.
Planning is already well underway for 2014 and please revisit this web site for more details in early December.
At the AGM we elected a very vibrant group of members so look forward to a great 2014.
