The next meeting will be in the new year, 10 February, 1pm at the Glenfield Memorial Hall, Hall Road, Glenfield. The February meeting will be held at 1.00pm at Glenfield Hall, Hall Road, Glenfield. The challenge is taken from Amanda Brett's title of her winning Award last November: "Tools of trade" . Could be a workshop, toolshed, farming, knitting, kitchen or a laundry setting. Chris and Joanne have collected a massive array of watercolour materials. You can find the current list (here). These will all be for sale on a "Trading table". If you have something that you do not now want, please bring it to add to the pile. Possibly a video from John Lovett and a presentation about the Bathurst Watercolour workshops.
Chairman's ColumnWe are delighted to announce that at the recent AGM a new position in the Society was agreed to. It is that of President. Furthermore we are also delighted to announce that Brian Millard has agreed to be our inaugural President. The position is for one year and will be rotated among Auckland's best watercolourists who are paying members of the Society. Brian has returned from Queenstown and is now living on the Whangaparoa peninsular and conducting regular classes at the Milford Arts Centre. The Christmas meeting at Glenfield was most enjoyable. Thanks to all who brought food to share and to Joanne and Chris for organising the whole show. It was most appropriate for Christmas. Ken garret brought a Christmas card that he had received from a friend in Howick. A watercolour masterpiece of the inside of a classic European cathedral was painted in minute detail. The after lunch plein air painting session was also enjoyable and presented quite a challenge in the hot sun. Next year we get underway on February 10 th at Glenfield at 1.00pm (see notice) with another year of intense interest, challenges and stimulation. I am so pleased to be able to look back on 2013 when we had some wonderful speakers, workshops and other magnificent occasions. It is going to be quite a challenge to our committees to arrange a more interesting year than the one just past. We hope that you enjoy the festive and holiday seasons , taking you sketch book everywhere with you surprising us with your creativity and artistic flairs.
