Auckland Watercolour Society Merit Awards 2016

The 2016 AWS Merit Awards will start on 15th October 2016 at the Takapuna Library. Registration and receiving day is Saturday 15th from 10am until 1.00pm. No later please as we want the paintings up on the display screens before the library closes ready for when the judges come in on Sunday. Please review and sign the entry form, which details a number of important points. The opening night is on Monday 17th from 6pm. If you are able to attend the opening/prize giving we would be very pleased if you could bring some goodies and a bottle of wine to share with our guests. We will also be having a raffle basket and we need Christmas goodies to go in the basket. We would be very pleased if members could bring along to the September meeting a small contribution to the raffle - Sheryl Davis will be accepting all donations for the basket. Grahame Longford has donated a painting to be raffled together with the goodie basket over the three weeks the art exhibition is on. There will be some entry forms available as well and we need minders for the show - a roster list will be ready for members put their names down to be volunteers as minders.

Auckland Watercolour Society Art Show 2016

The Takapuna Public Library was again generously hosting our first art show in 2016 from 11 April to 30 April. About 50 works will be shown on the first floor of the library. This exhibition is open for non-members as well, conditions apply. We also invite again this year works from our friends working in other media (Oil, Acrylics, pastel). Please find the poster at the right.

Auckland Watercolour Society Members' Merit Awards Exhibition 2015

Our judged exhibition this year at Takapuna Library will start on the 19th October 2015 and finish on the 8th November 2015. Delivery and set up day is Saturday 17th October 2015 from 10am until 1pm. The judge will come in on Sunday 18th October 2015 and the opening night and prizegiving will be on Monday 19th October 2015 (from 6pm onwards). The exhibition will end on Sunday 8th November 2015 when all unsold work should be collected from the library.

All work submitted for entry to this exhibition should have been completed within the last 12 months. Work done in a workshop environment or under supervision should not be submitted for entry. Giclees and digitilised work will not be accepted. All work should be ready to hang - neatly sealed on the reverse and with d-rings/ cord and be clearly labelled with the artist's name/address and of course the cost of the work. Commission on sales will be 20%. Because this is a formal judged exhibition purchasers will not be able to take paintings away until the show ends.

Art Show at Takapuna Library

The Society is organizing a mid-year Art Show in the Takapuna Library from 8th June to 21st June 2015.

Members are invited to put in 4 works - the show will be a "cash and carry" and as one painting is sold another will take its place. All paintings will eventually be on display. For the opening night (8th June 2015) we will hang as many as we can on our new display screens and keep the others in reserve. There is no charge to enter this show.

For this particular show we are including oils/acrylics/watercolours/giclees. Work done in a classroom environment or under supervision will also be acceptable providing the original artist or photograph is acknowledged. We want to sell as many paintings as we can with 20% of the sale price going to Vanuatu to help with restoration.

Receiving days are Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th. Please drop off your work between 10.30am and 1pm on either day. On the last day (21st June 2015) all unsold work should be collected by 12 noon.

The opening night will be Monday 8th June 2015 from 5.30pm. If you are coming to the opening night please bring a bottle of wine and a plate of goodies to share with our guests.

AWS Merit Awards 2014

(916) 341-6269The Auckland Watercolour Society Merit Awards exhibition was held at the Takapuna public Library. Opening night was Monday 10th Nov. The closing date of the exhibition was 30th Nov. The first prize of $400 sponsored by the Auckland Watercolour Society was awarded to Claudia Slaney for her painting "Sailing on the Manukau". Second prize of $200 sponsored by Dennis Clark of the Paintbasket School of Art went to Amanda Brett for her work "Harvest Series / Cheese and Onions". Third prize of $100 sponsored by Ron Sadler of Barfoot and Thompson went to Jim White-Parsons for his painting "Fog Lifting". The Merit Award winners were Kathie Shaw, Ginette Wang, Roy Boston, Pauline Smith, Gailene Marsden and Joanne Mortimore. Congratulations to all winners once more!

The Auckland Watercolour Society Merit Awards exhibition was a judged exhibition and prizes from our sponsors were awarded.
Set up day is 3rd November 2013 and the exhibition closed on the 24th November 2013.

Art on the Shore

The Art exhibition "ART ON THE SHORE" in the Takapuna Library for members of the Auckland Watercolour Society and the Lake House art classes (watercolour and acrylics) was held in August 2013.
The charity for this exhibition was be the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust ARHT.
